United States Sentencing Commission (USSC)

The United States Sentencing Commission is an independent agency whose principal purpose is to establish sentencing policies and practices for the Federal courts, including detailed guidelines prescribing the appropriate form and severity of punishment for offenders convicted of Federal crimes. This website contains reports to Congress, sentencing guidelines, sentencing statistics by State, and information on State sentencing commissions.

 

Federal Government

The Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) is a nationwide network of Federal laboratories. This website offers searchable databases of Federal laboratories and news, information about technologies developed at Federal laboratories, newsletters, an event calendar, and funding opportunities.
The NCFS is a joint project of the University of Central Florida and the National Institute of Justice. The goal of NCFS is to create a unique laboratory facility staffed and equipped to service the forensic and law enforcement communities in the areas of fire and explosion debris. This website contains NCFS news and information.

The American Academy of Forensic Sciences is a professional society dedicated to the application of science to the law. This website contains information on conferences and seminars, a membership

The American College of Forensic Examiners (ACFE) is a private, nonprofit, tax-exempt scientific and professional society. This website contains information on membership, certification, conferences, discussion groups, and online publications.
The American Society of Questioned Document Examiners (ASQDE) fosters education, sponsors scientific research, establishes standards, and provides instruction in the field of questioned document examination. This website contains information on membership, referral lists of document examiners, continuing education, publications, and other topics.
IACIS is a nonprofit corporation composed of law enforcement professionals who have been trained in the forensic science of seizing and processing evidence from computer systems. This website contains membership information, training opportunities, and special announcements from IACIS.
IAFN is the only international professional organization of registered nurses formed exclusively to develop, promote, and disseminate information about the science of forensic nursing nationally and internationally. The National Association of Document Examiners (NADE) is comprised of handwriting experts who examine signatures and documents to determine authenticity or identify the originator. This website contains contact information.

The Community Policing Consortium is a partnership of five of the leading police organizations in the United States. An excellent training resource with ties to PAC members. TRS is committed to training focused on law enforcement investigations and the many areas of forensic sciences. The conferences we provide will benefit both the entry-level investigator and the seasoned veteran.
